Summary

New York Times bestselling author Shane Dawson returns with another highly entertaining and uproariously funny essay collection, chronicling a mix of real life moments both extraordinary and mortifying, yet always full of heart。

Shane Dawson shared some of his best and worst experiences in I Hate Myselfie, the critically acclaimed book that secured his place as a gifted humorist and keen observer of millennial culture。 Fans felt as though they knew him after devouring the New York TimesPublishers Weekly, Los Angeles Times, and Wall Street Journal bestseller。 They were right… almost。

In this new collection of original personal essays, Shane goes even deeper, sharing never-before-revealed stories from his life, giving readers a no-holds-barred look at moments both bizarre and relatable, from cult-like Christian after-school activities, dressing in drag, and losing his virginity, to hiring a psychic, clashes with celebrities, and coming to terms with his bisexuality。 Every step of the way, Shane maintains his signature brand of humor, proving that even the toughest breaks can be funny when you learn to laugh at yourself。

This is Let's Pretend This Never Happened and Running With Scissors for the millennial generation: an inspiring, intelligent, and brutally honest collection of true stories by a YouTube sensation-turned one of the freshest new voices out there。

I appreciated the relatability of many of Shane's anecdotes and how clearly his humor comes through in his writing。 However, it was a bit much for my taste。 I appreciated the relatability of many of Shane's anecdotes and how clearly his humor comes through in his writing。 However, it was a bit much for my taste。 。。。more

I grew up watching Shane Dawson in middle school。 He has since fallen far from grace and is surrounded by controversy and scandal。 I had stopped regularly watching YouTube videos years before then and never fully heard what exactly it was that happened to make him so hated。 I’ve heard things in passing, of course, but I never looked into it。 I makes me sad, though, to think that the things said may be true。That being said, I bought this book before shit hit the fan and couldn’t make myself toss I grew up watching Shane Dawson in middle school。 He has since fallen far from grace and is surrounded by controversy and scandal。 I had stopped regularly watching YouTube videos years before then and never fully heard what exactly it was that happened to make him so hated。 I’ve heard things in passing, of course, but I never looked into it。 I makes me sad, though, to think that the things said may be true。That being said, I bought this book before shit hit the fan and couldn’t make myself toss out the collection of essays without reading them first。 I paid for it, I’m going to read it。 This rating is 100% based on just the book and it’s contents。 Middle school fan girl me would have given it 5 stars。 Disgusted adult me would have given it 1 star on principle。 But, honestly, it was just okay writing。 3 stars。 It wasn’t great。 Some of it still made me laugh。 Some of it made me feel uncomfortable and slightly disturbed。 Overall, it was just okay。 。。。more

Shane Dawson was canceled a long time ago but I can’t help but love the guy he’s been my comfort person for years when i felt alone at 10 years old I’d watch his videos and now 10 years later I’m finally getting too reading his book it was funny and emotional at the same time。 I strongly recommend everyone read it。

This book was so good,。 I have always liked Shane and his videos。 I think that he is so funny other people might think not because he is mean to people。 But I think not, this is a must read。

Pauline

Humorous and personal essays。 Entertaining。

Definatley better than his other book。 I loved the offensive 2000s style humour, that is so specific to Shane。 Liked the incorporation of paranormal and other really personal stuff。 Yea it does have some bad sides but the melancholy of that era is too strong to not be enjoyable。

Hannah Bugey

This book is hilarious and I love Shane

Just as I thought of the last one it wasn’t very good。 I’d rate it a 1。5 stars because some of the messages in this one I actually could get digging through the rest of the garbage but I still didn’t like it very much。 I will probably be burning this one just like the last one。

This book is honestly the most boring thing i've ever read。 I couldn't even finish it, because I lost interest so quickly。 The book itself is not that big, but I still couldn't finish it。 I rather read Gabbie hanna's terrible poetry than try to finish this book, but it was so bad。 This book is honestly the most boring thing i've ever read。 I couldn't even finish it, because I lost interest so quickly。 The book itself is not that big, but I still couldn't finish it。 I rather read Gabbie hanna's terrible poetry than try to finish this book, but it was so bad。 。。。more

I was cleaning up my bookshelf and realized I had never finished this book from a couple of years ago。 I used to love Shane, but haven’t been following him recently。 I honestly loved his self-deprecating humor and brutal honesty。 While I understand why he is considered controversial, I think you have to recognize his content for what it is: entertainment and comedy。 Honestly, I enjoyed this light read。 While it felt outrageous and unrealistic very often, looking at this collection of essays as e I was cleaning up my bookshelf and realized I had never finished this book from a couple of years ago。 I used to love Shane, but haven’t been following him recently。 I honestly loved his self-deprecating humor and brutal honesty。 While I understand why he is considered controversial, I think you have to recognize his content for what it is: entertainment and comedy。 Honestly, I enjoyed this light read。 While it felt outrageous and unrealistic very often, looking at this collection of essays as entertainment rather than a thought-provoking memoir helped me enjoy the read。 。。。more

What would I not give to listen to this in Shane's voice! The book is silly, heartwarming, offensive and fucking hilarious。 Needless to say, I love Shane but 'I Hate My Selfie' was a better read。 What would I not give to listen to this in Shane's voice! I LOVE Shane Dawson and have ever since I started watching YouTube in 2009。 So I couldn’t believe that I had never gotten around to reading his book (a theme it seems within the books I’ve read lately)。 With that being said, I am still yet to read his first book because this happens to be his follow up novel。 The format he follows is a collection of short stories about his life that will have you rolling around laughing, feeling sympathetic pains or reaching better understandings of why he is th I LOVE Shane Dawson and have ever since I started watching YouTube in 2009。 So I couldn’t believe that I had never gotten around to reading his book (a theme it seems within the books I’ve read lately)。 With that being said, I am still yet to read his first book because this happens to be his follow up novel。 The format he follows is a collection of short stories about his life that will have you rolling around laughing, feeling sympathetic pains or reaching better understandings of why he is the way he is。 I found this a highly entertaining light read that is in true Shane style。 。。。more
